You can reduce the file’s resolution or data rate to help with this. If you’re uploading video content, you want to publish the best video quality possible at a size that’s accessible to the largest possible audience. While some large high-resolution files might play well on high-quality PCs, creators of video content also have to remember many people watch videos on smartphones, older PCs, or with slower Wi-Fi or cellular connections. But if you plan to host the video yourself or want it smaller to share the file more easily, reducing the size of video files is helpful for your audience. Most social sites like Facebook and YouTube will make your video smaller for playback across a variety of devices when you upload. Then, when you export, Media Encoder will automatically switch back to using your high-resolution sources.
Compress video files to a more manageable format like MP4, helping make your workflow more efficient. You might create proxy files, which use a lower data rate but maintain the aspect ratio, for a smoother editing experience.

If you turn off video compression, be aware that your published files will be larger, which could be problematic for learners with slow internet connections.

You can turn off compression altogether for MP4 videos created with baseline, main, or high profiles. Lossy compression removes data from the video file to reduce its size while with lossless compression no data is lost. To deliver video content to all learners, regardless of their internet speed, publish your courses with adaptive bitrate streaming.

Note that higher-quality values for static videos result in larger file sizes, which could mean longer download times for learners with slow internet connections. Then drag the Static slider to the right to increase the publish quality. To adjust the compression Storyline 360 uses for static videos, click the Quality property in the Publish window and choose the Static video quality setting. When you publish a course, your videos will be encoded so they're no larger than your slide size with a key frame every 5 seconds-unless you turn off video compression as described in the next section.
However, you can turn off compression for MP4 videos if you'd prefer. We recommend using high-quality videos and letting Storyline 360 handle the compression. We worked hard to optimize video compression in Storyline 360, so you'd get the highest possible quality at the lowest possible file size. Use streaming video so your learners can enjoy video content without buffering.
